Trial-Size Ingredients Now For Sale

My Etsy shop is now open for business! Find us at etsy.com/shop/MixoloG

My online store is now open on my Facebook page! Click on the Products tab for ingredients! I am selling trial-size packets of dry ingredients for the naturalista who may not want to commit to buying the full size package until she/he knows that the recipe works on their hair. The trial-sizes are also great for recipes that are used infrequently. The 1st ingredient that I recommend for purchase is the guar gum because it is a thickener that I use in several recipes. The best recipe to start with is the Oatmeal Water Conditioner Recipe . It requires no heat or complicated steps, and it is the recipe that started me on my mixology profession. Please keep checking the online store because I will be continuously uploading more products to the page. I hope to influence future mixologists and make it easier to get started in the world of mixology. Like and share my Facebook page to keep up with the latest in mixology! ❤ Ally

Flax Seed

Flax seed is unlike other gels that dry the hair. Flax seed actually can strengthen the hair by coating it with beneficial Omega-3 fatty acids. Flax seed transfers the fatty acid through the mucilage that it produces when boiled (Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve). Flaxseed gel gives a gentle hold with no flakiness when I use it in my recipes.

I purchased flax seed through Mountain Rose Herbs. To purchase a tria-size amount, click here. If you are into comparative shopping, try a Google search of flax seed and then click the “Shopping” tab. Let me know if you find this ingredient locally or for less $$$!

Chamomile Flowers

Chamomile Flower rinses are known as wonderful conditioning treatments for the hair. Chamomile flowers have infused my Slippery Soft Hair Lotion Recipe  with amazing softness and great slip, and it’s also great for soothing the scalp. (Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve).

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil gives you the best of the fruit without having to deal with the oxidation that happens to the pulp if the avocado is left out in the open. Here in California, avocados are in season and readily available. But I asked myself, do I want avocados in my hair or in my belly? I chose to make guacamole and buy some avocado oil! Avocado oil is packed with vitamins and humectants, but it can be more expensive than other oils. (Natural Hair Rules.com) That is why I used it when I really needed it, in my Banana Coffee Deep Conditioner recipe. I wasn’t taking any chances on repairing my hair.

Cetyl Alcohol

Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that is naturally derived from animals and plants and is used to formulate conditioners. It will improve product texture, act as a lubricant, and facilitate moisture retention.  It benefits the hair by allowing the product to spread evenly throughout the hair, softens the hair, and seals in moisture which is great for the hair and the scalp. (Livestrong.com).

Comfrey Root

Comfrey Root is a herb that is rich in fatty acids that stimulate blood flow to the scalp, nourishes and strengthens hair follicles, to promote healthy hair growth and improve the overall condition of hair. (Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve Company) I bought this herb from  after I attended a natural hair event in the Bay Area and heard that it has great slip for the hair. I wanted to try this along with the burdock and see how it would affect the smoothness of my hair. When I used it in a home-made curl cream that I am still in the process of formulating, I was very happy with the slip and feel of it.
